Four CSA-Partnered ASCs Earn Prestigious "Top Ambulatory Surgery Center" Designation from The Leapfrog Group

February 12, 2025

Constitution Surgery Alliance (CSA) is pleased to announce that four of its partnered and managed ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) have earned a spot on The Leapfrog Group's prestigious "Top Ambulatory Surgery Center" list for 2024. Only 31 ASCs in the nation were named on the "Top" list this year.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization that is widely acknowledged as the toughest standard-setter for healthcare safety and quality. The winning ASCs were recognized for their excellent clinical outcomes and commitment to processes that protect patients from harm and preventable errors. The four CSA-affiliated award winners are Hartford HealthCare Cheshire Surgery Center, Hartford HealthCare Southwest Connecticut Surgery Center, Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center, and The Surgery Center of Rhode Island.

The Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center and The Surgery Center of Rhode Island have now earned this award two years in a row. "At CSA, our mission has always been rooted in clinical quality. Earning multiple Leapfrog Top ASC recognitions in each of the past three years validates the efforts and dedication of the entire organization. We know this is one of the toughest awards to earn in the industry," said Kris Mineau, Founder and CEO of CSA.

"We are so proud of this recognition which confirms that our strategy to advance access, affordability, health equity, and excellence is working. We are transforming health care for the better, alongside partners like CSA,," said Karen Goyette, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Harford HealthCare, joint partners in the Hartford HealthCare Cheshire Surgery Center and Hartford HealthCare Southwest Connecticut Surgery Center in Wilton.

"We have long recognized the need for convenient care locations and outpatient sites that bring the highest quality care at the most affordable cost to all communities. As we move care to lower cost settings, we are lowering the overall cost of care while improving its quality, ensuring that patients receive exceptional services in convenient, community-based locations. This recognition is a true testament to our commitment and a celebration of the colleagues who put patients first every day."

To earn a spot on the "Top" list, each ASC was required to monitor and report patient outcomes and processes including infection prevention, hand hygiene, errors, and patient experience measurements. "Constitution Surgery Alliance is proud to once again, recognize our "Top Ambulatory Surgery Centers" designees in 2024. As the Leapfrog reporting platform evolves year over year, our ASCs are challenged to elevate performance around transparency, patient safety and quality metrics. Having four 'Top ASC' designees this year is a testament to our clinical focus as an organization and re-affirms our commitment to providing patient-centered care." said Nicole Vit, CSA Chief Clinical Officer.
